Teach Principles and Practices of Emergency Management, the introductory course in the program. 6/2005 to present.

 

Adjunct Instructor, Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville, AL. Primary teaching responsibility for Legal Aspects of Public Safety Communications and Introduction to Weapons of Mass Destruction. Also teach Public Information in Emergency Management yearly and have taught Public Policy in Emergency Management. 9/2002 to present.

Communications Specialist. Issaquah Police Department, Issaquah, WA. Part-time position, responsible for answering emergency and business phone lines and dispatching law enforcement calls for service for two police agencies. Monitor internal security systems. 12/2004 to 4/2005.

 

Director of Technology/Founding Member, DigitalEve International, Seattle, WA. Founding member of this all-volunteer, international non-profit women’s technology organization. Originally responsible for mailing list setup and administration, later moving to Director of Technology role. Facilitated the day-to-day technical operations of the organization utilizing five direct reports and a cadre of nearly 20 other volunteers. Responsible for all technical aspects of the organization, including servers, software, e-mail, website, troubleshooting and other areas as needed. Performed hands-on system administration work, as well as directing the efforts of others. 8/2000 to 10/2002.

 

Communications Specialist, Bothell Police Department, Bothell, WA. Responsible for answering emergency and non-emergency phone lines and dispatching law enforcement calls for service for two police agencies. Serve as training officer, responsible for one-on-one training of new hires. Have written several procedures and participated in contract negotiation and dispute resolution. Served on CAD selection committee, reviewing RFPs and conducting site visits. 6/1999 to 11/2004.

 

Communications Specialist, Norcom 911, Woodburn, OR. Responsible for answering emergency and non-emergency phone lines and dispatching police, fire, and medical calls for service for several agencies. 10/1995 to 7/1997.

 

Associate Advisor/Support Division Commander, Marion County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Post 18, Salem, OR. Participated in missions for missing people, technical rescue, disaster relief, and support services. Served as team member, team leader, incident commander and other incident command positions. As Division Commander, responsibilities included fundraising, record keeping, and public relations. Taught various classes including advanced leadership, map reading and radio communications. Designed and implemented new organizational plan to streamline unit functions. Participated in planning and design of training exercises and made recommendations for improvements. Received numerous letters of appreciation/recognition, commendations, and the “Top Hand Award” for outstanding service to the unit. 9/1988 to 7/1997.
